The last three days I was given the opportunity to do work experience at Slough Aspire. I have really enjoyed my time there and have been given a taster of what working for a business is like. It has been really helpful and I have gained an insight of working life, especially working with important goals and even the commuting into work.
A large part of my enjoyment of the three days was the friendliness and welcoming nature of the Slough Aspire team. Fiona Jones the Chief Executive gave me the briefing of each of my tasks and would always help me if I came across things I didn’t quite understand. As soon as I arrived I felt included and I saw the team spirit of the staff and how everyone needed each other to function. I would also like to thank Andrea Hurman as she helped me get around using Dotmailer and setting up the computer side of my few days.
The involvement of computing has really improved my skillset as before I have never been particularly good or involved with computers however now I feel a lot more comfortable with them. This was aided by the importance of a computer in my work and the tech check I got to do on my last day. This, in particular showed me how important computers are in work. For example on my first day there was a talk, which involved a functioning AV system, and I realized how important it was for the technical aspects to be working for events to run smoothly.
It has been a really interesting and fun few days and I will miss the camaraderie of the staff and being in a working environment.
Thank you very much Slough Aspire team for giving me this memorable experience.
