My Slough Aspire Work Experience

I was grateful enough to be given a placement for work experience at Slough Aspire by my school, the Langley Academy, in conjunction with Learning to Work. My week here has been extremely insightful as to how an event planning business is operated and how major events in Slough are held.
I had heard about Slough Aspire through school events and other community events around Slough. I did some more research into the company and found the event planning aspect as well as the eco-office layout really intriguing.
During my time here I have, assisted with major events, done a 'tech check' which consists of checking that all of the laptops, tablets and AV equipment is all functional in order for the next set of people to use. I drafted and edited a Dotmailer, which are online newsletters a business can generate in order to send to customers and colleagues about events and campaigns that the business is running. My Dotmailer was drafted for the Berkshire Apprenticeship Service, a new scheme to help businesses set up an apprenticeship scheme. I assisted my colleagues with general tasks including moving furniture and greeting visitors (with a smile!) I researched the General Data Protection Regulation, which affects businesses and the data they can keep regarding customers which affects data privacy. Finally, I gave a speech on why it is important for my generation to gain knowledge through work experience at the SEGRO head office in front of the Slough Business Community Partnership.
It has been one of the best work experiences I have ever had thanks to the team at Slough Aspire and Learning to Work. I want to thank Fiona, Alison, Tony, Amelia and Charlotte for making my work experience something to live up too!
