Alongside useful training and advice on setting goals, CV writing, and interview techniques to increase their employability skills, delivered by motivational training firm “Employability Town”, the workshops presented positive opportunities for young people to engage with two very different industries and companies; Wilson & Scott and LeasePlan.
At the first workshop; Steve Scott, Managing Director of Wilson & Scott (Highways) Ltd, an independent specialist line-marking, anti-skid surfacing & coloured surfacing contractor, presented on the range of vacancies available including their apprenticeship scheme. And, for a completely different and very hands on experience, Wilson & Scott brought along one of the company vehicles for the young people to explore. At the second of the two workshops, LeasePlan UK, a multi-national fleet management company whose UK headquarters have long been based in Slough, brought along a team of management professionals from across the business who shared with the group information about LeasePlan UK,Leaseplan Presentation what it was like to work for the company and to discuss the 6 work experience placements they had to offer.
Jonathan Webster, Eve-Lynn Ansley, Joe Sansone and Tim Ward gave our attendees a chance to pitch to them on why each young person would be an ideal candidate for one of their placements. Students were invited to submit their applications by 22nd January 2016 and successful candidates will be looking at starting a 3 week placement on 22nd February 2016!
