Why Work Experience is Important. POSTED BY MANREET DOSANJH, JULY 2017

Why work experience is Important.

Teenagers across the country look for valuable work experience in order to strengthen their CVs and their university or apprenticeship applications. As well as work experience being used as a way to impress future employers, it plays a major role in helping young adults to understand the world of work and get hands on with a future career they may be looking to pursue.
Not only does this experience make teens more knowledgeable in certain industries, it also allows them to get a grasp of skills such as team work, time management, leadership and self-motivation. It’s guaranteed that those who work with determination during their work experience placement will gain an immense amount of confidence in the work place. Experiences like this will allow the younger generation to achieve capabilities that they may not necessarily be able to develop in a classroom or a school environment. Learning to Work set up my work placement at Slough Aspire as a Event Management Assistant, this was the perfect opportunity to get a feel for what my future career may be like and it provided me with specific skills that I can use for the jobs I may apply for in the future such as communicating with clients, handling stock and setting up events.
Having the opportunity to take part in work experience has a long list of benefits that will help you in future careers and affairs. Making contacts and connections are essential if you want to go higher up in your chosen sector of work and have an increased pool of opportunity. Having your experience behind you makes you stand out from the crowd and reflects on your commitment to develop your plans for the future.
