Slough Aspire does the Big Sleep Out!

On the night of 1st December Fiona Jones, Amelia Plaister and Charlotte Slark from Slough Aspire took part in The Big Sleep Out to help raise money for Slough Homeless Our Concern (SHOC) and Trinity Homeless Projects.
Slough Aspire has been working with SHOC since the Aspire Centre opened 4 years ago. We often find that people hiring Aspire will over order catering, so we’ve been donating any uneaten food to the SHOC team for their drop-in centre. In October this year, we also hosted an art exhibition where all the art was created by users of the Drop-In Centre.
As a result of that event, the team decided to take part in the Big Sleep Out. So last Friday we joined over 200 other people to sleep in near freezing temperatures in cardboard boxes at the Uxbridge Athletics Centre car park. Short on sleep but very humbled by the experience the team headed back to Slough at 6am on Saturday morning; a little more aware of what it’s like to sleep rough and with renewed enthusiasm for making a difference for people in Slough.
The team raised £470 for SHOC and Trinity but if you’d like to make a donation to help ensure local Homeless people have a place to go this Christmas our page is still open at:
