The first ever Berkshire Apprenticeship Awards launched on Monday 17th September 2018 at 10am. Accompanied by a social media thunderclap, the awards were launched at the Berkshire Apprenticeship Hub which is hosted at the Aspire Centre by Slough Aspire and The Windsor Forest Colleges Group.
The Berkshire Apprenticeship Awards are part of a collaboration with Thames Valley Berkshire LEP to champion Apprenticeships and Skills in Berkshire. Apprenticeships raise productivity, increase employee engagement and provide a vital solution to company skills gaps but currently just 6% of workplaces in Berkshire have apprentices as part of their staff. With the launch of the Awards, the Berkshire Apprenticeship Service is raising the profile of apprenticeships by inviting apprentices, employers and training providers to nominate themselves and showcase their amazing achievements.
Fiona Jones, Chief Executive of Slough Aspire, explains “Apprenticeships are a fantastic route for anyone looking to develop new skills and embark on a new career. We have launched the Berkshire Apprenticeship Awards to highlight the positive impact Apprentices are having in businesses across Berkshire, to encourage more employers to offer apprenticeships and to raise the benefits of being an apprentice with parents and educators. We are excited to be working with the Thames Valley Berkshire LEP on this fantastic event for Berkshire’s businesses.”
Brilliant businesses already making a difference have sponsored the awards including Honda, AWE, Arvato UK & Ireland and ECITB.
